WORKSHOP. "Compelle Intrare" on Violence and Conversion in the non-European Catholic World

Compelle intrare

Compelle intrare

“Compelle Intrare” is a latin sentence written in the Gospel of Luke (14, 23). It literally means “compel people to come in” and it is referred to the use of coercive methods to convert the heretics.

The workshop’s theme, in fact, is about violence and conversion in the non-European catholic world, it’s organized by Professor Vincenzo Lavenia and it takes place on Thursday December 3rd, from 3.00 PM,  and Friday December 4th, from 9:30 AM at the Sala del Consiglio, Palazzo Ciccolini via XX Settembre no. 5, Macerata

During these two days there will be three different areas of discussion: the first is “Thinking conversion and violence”, the second is “Conversions and missions: practicing violence?”, and the third is “Narrating and occulting violence: tales of conversions”.  On Friday, at the end of the second day,  there will be a concluding roundtable discussion.

The workshop will be held in English and L-36, LM-52 e LM-62 SPOCRI students can gain 2 ECTS credits by attending the workshop and passing an oral exam with professor Vincenzo Lavenia.
