FINAL EXAM

 

TIMELINE AND INFORMATION

 

In order to be awarded the final diploma, the student is required to write and discuss an original thesis in English in one of the subjects included in the study plan under the guidance of their relevant supervisor. 16 ECTS will be awarded for this requirement.

The Commission shall determine the final grade based on the average progress, including any courses of excellence, and the outcome of the final examination (evaluation of the work and the discussion), in accordance with the resolutions of the Board of the Study Program.

In order to be admitted to the final examination, students must provide the following documentation to the Registrar’s office (Segreteria Studenti):

 

As soon as the topic is approved by the supervisor - at least 6 months before the submission of the thesis

 

Timely delivery to the Registrar’s office of the thesis assignment form, duly completed and signed.

From the a.y. 2016/2017 - for the Students enrolled in the master's degree program in "Study Politici e Internazionali" and in "Global Politics and International Relations" - the thesis topic must be approved by thesis Supervisor at least 6 months prior to the expected graduation date (art 7. c. 3 Reg. Didattico CdS).


At least 30 days before the graduation date

 

FILL IN THE ONLINE APPLICATION FORM.

However, BEFORE DOING THAT, the following documents must be ready in soft copy:

- thesis form, indicating if the thesis is “compilativa” (compiled) or “di approfondimento” (in
depth) or “di ricerca (reserach)” (*)
- copy of the academic record booklet (libretto) – the first page (where personal data, photo and student number are reported) and pages containing the exams passed. You can upload up to 6 files, but individual file size cannot exceed 30 Mbytes each. Students who have taken exams Socrates-Erasmus program are required to provide also the copy of the letter received from the IRO - International Relations Office – indicating the exams taken abroad and duly registered)
- receipt of the signed questionnaire on the evaluation of the university experience, to be filled out online.

ONLY ONCE all these materials are ready in soft copy, the student will be able to proceed with the ONLINE APPLICATION, under “Qualification award” on the menu on the left side of the page of the UNIMC reserved area. The hard copy of the application form does not have to be handed in to the Student Registrar’s Office anymore.

The procedure is considered completed only after clicking on the button “CompletaDomandaConseguimentoTitolo”.


Data inserted in the THESIS FORM can be modified by the student before the deadline for the submission of the application form. After that, the Student Registrar’s Office will confirm the ONLINE application form and it will not be possible anymore to modify the data inserted.
At the end of the procedure, two MAV forms will be issued: one MAV of € 71.38 for the degree certificate (parchment), one MAV of €16 for the virtual stamp on the qualification award. The two MAV forms can be downloaded under “Payments” on the left side of the menu in your UNIMC reserved area. They need to be paid immediately, or the Student Registrar’s Office will not be able to confirm the THESIS FORM. There is no need of bringing the receipt of payment of the two MAV forms to the Student Registrar’s Office.


15 days prior to graduation day

 

The following document must be handed in to the Student Registrar’s Office:

a printed version of the thesis with a soft cover, printed on both sides, 1.5 line spacing, signed by the supervisor and the graduating student and including the student’s name and course of study. The word file for the frontispiece (title page) is available for download.

 

7 days prior to graduation day

 

  • a hard copy of the thesis abstract (**) for each member of the graduation committee must be handed in to the Didactic Office of the Course of Study (via Don Minzoni no.22/A, 5th floor).

    (**) The abstract consists of 4/5 pages to be stapled and without binding: the first page is the frontispiece; one or two pages of thesis abstract; the last page must contain the list of completed exams with their dates and marks. Any bindings will be removed


    Following the publication of the graduation committee about 2 weeks before the graduation date

     

    Submission of the thesis to the Second Supervisors’ mail boxes (preferably), handed in during their office hours or by email. Students can find the names of the Second Supervisors attributed to them on the list of graduating students, published on the UNIMC webpage. In case of a single Second Supervisor, he/she is selected by the Head of the Department. While, in case they are two, one is selected by the first supervisor and the second by the Head of the Department. It may happen that the indicated supervisor will not be nominated. For what concerns Second Supervisors:
    -no.1 Second Supervisor for Bacherlor’s Degree and 4 year courses (compilative) thesis.
    -no.2 Second Supervisors for Master’s Degree and 4 year courses (in depth or research) thesis.

     

    Graduation Day

     

    Students must arrive at the set time in the classroom where the thesis will be given. The order of the graduating students will be communicated on that day.

     

    In case of postponement of graduation

    If the student who submitted the application form decides not to attend the graduation day, he/she is required to contact immediately the Student Registrar’s Office/Segreteria Studenti (fax 0733 2582755 or from the student’s UNIMC email account to segreteria.studenti.spocri@unimc.it) in order to know how to register for the next graduation session. In order to be admitted to the next graduation session, the student needs to go through the same procedure again and submit a new THESIS FORM. In this case, the system will store the previous application form and the student will be able to modify the data previously inserted or confirm them, in case they have not changed. Once the procedure is completed, the student needs to get in touch with the Student Registrar’s Office that will produce a virtual stamp for the second graduation application.

     

    Graduation Dates

    The Graduation Sessions Calendar is available at "CALENDARIO SESSIONI DI LAUREA".

    Students who – during the final exam – require to use multimedia tools, with reference to Aula Magna and Antica Biblioteca of the Sede Centrale (Piaggia dell’Università, no.2), will have a PC connected to a projector and classroom amplification at their disposal.
    The operative system at the disposal of graduating students is Windows 7 and the version of Power Point is the one of 2010. A PDF files reader is also installed in the PCs.
    Graduating students need to show up with the multimedia tools on the graduation day, providing by themselves to the loading and starting of the PPT. They are required to use, preferrably, a Pendrive (USB stick). They can carry out the operation in the moment they are called to discuss their thesis. Direct and continuative assistance from the personnel is not assured.

    In the object of the email, graduating students need to write: “SupportoTesi di Laurea”. In the body of the email they are required to insert their name and surname, department, graduation date and graduation session (afternoon or morning). Please, specify if there is need of audio support for videos (feasibility must be verified), internet connection and particular softwares (feasibility must be verified).
    Please be reminded that the PC at disposal of graduating students is connected to a projector and has Windows 10 and Microsoft Office 2013 as operative system. To be sure, always bring a USB stick with a copy of the file.
